TEFL FAQs

What is TEFL?

A TEFL certificate is an initial qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. TEFL allows people with a passion for teaching to teach in institutes, schools, or privately with individuals in different countries around the world.

Why become TEFL certified?

Becoming TEFL certified means having the opportunity to live, travel, and teach around the world. You will be able to develop your teaching skills and also gain valuable experience and knowledge while experiencing new cultures.

When should I take my Spanish course?

You can take your course before or after your TEFL program, but Íbero suggests taking it before the TEFL course begins.

Knowing Spanish is an important part in living in any Spanish speaking country.

What is the chance of finding a job after the course?

Great! There is a shortage of certified English teachers and institutes around the world are constantly looking for teachers to fill these positions.

Where can I teach with my TEFL certificate?

TEFL is recognized and accepted worldwide, reason by which it’s very easy to get a job with this diploma.

Do I need prior teaching experience?

No. There is no requirement for students to have previous teaching experience; of course, having experience is always a plus, but it is not required to attend or complete the course.

My professor was awesome, fun and funny and caring always pushing you forward, encouraging, entertaining, prepared and experienced. I enjoyed this TEFL program, it was a nice experience and it felt rewarding. It will help me. We learnt a good amount of theory and the teaching practices were useful, a good glimpse into the future and what to expect. Chene Mouton, South Africa

The staff was excellent. This TEFL course will help me in the future; knowledge and experience gained are priceless. The book was very good even tough it wasn’t written by a native speaker. Practice teaching classes were useful indeed. The classes helped me point out things I thought wouldn’t exist. It was a real-life experience. Clayton Phelps, USA

I was a student in Íbero's Spanish+TEFL Program. I was very comfortable at the school, the common spaces and relaxed atmosphere were a plus. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I will recommend this TEFL program to others because it’s good and affordable and you can get something out of it only if you take it seriously. The book was helpful, sample lesson plans were good, good advice on how to employ different methods when teaching different skills like reading or writing. My professor was lovely. He was very encouraging, always prepared and organized. The teaching practice was useful and authentic. Laura Williamsen, USA
