Students of Spanish from any country can take the CELU (Certificate of Spanish Language and Usage) in Buenos Aires and prepare for the international exam in standard Spanish classes (group or private) that Íbero currently offers.

The CELU does not require a special book or course of preparation.  Students can successfully pass the exam with the teaching materials provided by Íbero in each of our study levels, through communicative situations created in the classroom context, the Íbero constructivist methodology, including our own line of textbooks.

At least 2 levels of group classes (6 weeks) are needed to be able to pass the CELU at each level of the exam.

What exactly is the CELU exam?

The CELU exam is the only exam recognized by the Argentine National Ministry of Education, Science and Technology that evaluates the competency of the student to communicate in Spanish in an effective manner. That is to say, it accredits the competency of non-native speakers of Spanish.

Advanced: corresponds to a student who has the linguistic capacity to maneuver comfortably and spontaneously in a wide rage of familiar and social situations, equally in a work or education atmosphere. Equivalent to Íbero levels: Pre-Advanced, Advanced and Superior.

What abilities are evaluated and how is exam composed?

The CELU evaluates the linguistic competence in oral and written communication of Spanish as a foreign language in everyday, family, social, work, or academic situations. 

Each CELU exam has a combination of oral and written components, created from authentic sources.  Oral competency is evaluated through: grammar, vocabulary, contextual and interactive capabilities, fluency and pronunciation/intonation; and for the written: discursive capabilities, grammar and vocabulary abilities.

What are the dates for this exam and how can I sign up?
